Any - Very High Synergy
Moff Gideon works very well as a Plug-and-Play non-lead character making him a good choice for a wide variety of teams, maximizing his utility. His unique, Know Your Adversaries, puts a debuff on all enemies at the beginning of the encounter called Demoralized that decreases Offense by 50% and Critical Chance and Critical Damage by 25% that cannot be resisted or dispelled. This can quickly cripple the power of strong teams until he is defeated. His special, Control the Situation, resets all Turn Meter by 100% for everyone and then increases all of your allies Turn Meter by 25%, instantly giving you the potential to slow down enemies about to take a turn and give your units a chance at going first. That same special also makes tanks Taunt for 2 turns, Attackers gain 50% Offense, and Support gain 100% Protection Up. His first special ability can provide Armor Shred for increased damage to a single target and his granted ability, by Insight, can put a 2 turn Daze on all enemies with Leader tag enemies unable to resist it.
Imperial Trooper - High Synergy
To maximize all of Gideon's Kit, he is best suited as the leader for an Imperial Trooper team. In the leader role, if all allies are Imperial Troopers and there are two Attackers, one tank and another support they will all gain 30% Max Health and Max Protection, gain a stacking 10% Offense each time an enemy with a Leader tag uses an ability until the end of the encounter and revive with 50% Health and Protection and 40% Offense the first time they are defeated. Moff will also gain 1 stack of Insight each time an enemy with the Leader tag takes a turn when in the above mentioned Imperial Trooper team. His second special, Control the Situation, calls all Imperial Troopers to assist. Moff works especially well with Death Trooper, Snowtrooper, Shoretrooper, and Admiral Piett.
Dark Side - Low Synergy
When Leading a Dark Side team with a setup of 1 tank, 2 attackers, and another support, they all gain 30% Max Health and Protection. Compared to other Leader abilities that could utilize Moff as an ally, this setup is not ideal for utilizing his max potential.
In most situations you will want Moff Gideon to be faster than all of your opponents characters so he can go first and use Control the Situation to reset all of their Turn Meter. If all of your team is faster than your opponent and Moff is the slowest it can potentially let your entire team go twice before the opponent has a chance to go once. If only Moff is faster than your opponents it still has the potential of letting your entire team go before them thanks to the 25% Turn Meter gain given to your allies.
Next ability to use would be Darksaber Lunge to get Armor Shred one if the most dangerous opponents or tank. After that it will be his Basic until he can either use his granted ability or his specials are off of cooldown.
